Detergent Range
Accordingly to the World Health Organization, to effectively clean any surface you should always remove any visible dirt using a detergent. This is so that a disinfectant wipe or spray can attack the bacteria, viruses and germs effectively. As a result of not removing the visible dirt from the surface, it can act as a barrier and protect harmful germs from the disinfectant agents leaving them to multiply. In other words, they are free to infect you.
This is why we recommend using Clinell detergent wipes to pre clean surfaces using their incredibly powerful, ultra-low smear formula.
In addition, they are alcohol and disinfectant free and derived from sustainable plant sources, and ultimately allow you to keep patients and workplaces safe without harming the Earth.
Clinell Detergent Wipes your perfect solution for fighting against harmful germs.

Secondly, Antimicrobial wipes help stop the spread of pathogens that can cause disease, which is especially important in a hospital setting where many people already have weakened immune systems.
Finally, in addition to killing viruses such as Covid-19 in just 30 seconds, Clinell Antimicrobial wipes can be used at the point of most risk, where soap and water are not available. For example, office receptions, communal bathrooms, high footfall areas, coming in a range of packs and sprays this truly an essential product for workplaces in 2021.

Incontinence-associated dermatitis (IAD) definition
IAD is the clinical symptom of moisture skin damage following prolonged exposure to urine and/or faeces. Sufferers of IAD encounter pain, discomfort and damage to their skin barrier function. This puts them at risk and increases their chances of infection.
Men and women of any age can suffer with IAD, but the elderly, generally unwell and those who are immobile or bed-bound or incontinent are at increased risk.
Treating IAD is a matter of minimising exposure to moisture and irritants, gentle cleansing and the application of a skin protectant. This has historically been a time-consuming process, meaning staff compliance is often poor.
Contiplan combines these steps into a single easy action. Our ultra-soft cleansing cloths work to cleanse, moisturise and protect all in one. Nursing staff prefer it to traditional methods, leading to an increase in compliance. Operational managers prefer it because it replaces multiple products with a single cloth. Patients prefer it because it significantly reduces the prevalence of IAD, easing discomfort and keeping them safe.

Fighting against bacteria, viruses and spores
VIRUSES
Coronavirus, Norovirus, Influenza (Flu)
A virus is a microscopic parasite which can infect living organisms and cause disease. It can make copies of itself inside another organism’s cells. Generally, viruses are much smaller than bacteria butthat doesn’t make them any less dangerous. Because viruses are not strictly alive they can exist on surfaces for many weeks and this makes them difficult to control.
Within the virus class we have 2 types; non-enveloped and enveloped. Non-enveloped viruses are composed of capsid protein and nucleic acid (DNA or RNA), termed the nucleocapsid, which constitute an infectious unit, the virion, whereas Enveloped viruses are composed of an envelope along with the nucleocapsid.Add block
BACTERIA
BS EN 1276 is the European standard for the bactericidal activity of chemical disinfectants. In order to pass this standard, products must prove a bacteria kill rate of 99.999% within 5 minutes.
Methylcillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA)
Cases of infection caused by Methylcillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) are on the increase in the care sector. However, the dangers of this virulent superbug are not limited to hospitals. MRSA infection can actually occur in any communal establishment and can have potentially disastrous consequences to health. In order to prevent infection outbreaks, it is essential to use a disinfectant that has been tested against a specified strain of MRSA to BS EN 1276.
Can viruses be effectively controlled?
Historically most disinfectants have been tested to BS EN 1276; this is a suspension test which involves the exposure of bacteria to a chemical over a set time period and looking at the number of bacteria which can reproduce after the exposure is complete. A log 5 reduction is required to pass this test; this means that if 1,000,000 bacteria were exposed to the disinfectant and 10 were left this would result in a 99.999% reduction (a logS).
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic people are more interested in tests that were developed for medical purposes, this includes BS EN 14476. Forth is test to pass we need to see a log reduction (99.99% inactivationfora pass).
To eliminate a virus such as the Covid-19 strain of Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) we need to see that the product has passed the full version or a modification of the same test which includes a specific strain of an enveloped virus (a coronavirus is an enveloped virus).
SPORES
Clostridium Difficile (C.Difficile)
Clostridium Difficile is a spore-forming bacterium. This makes it difficult to combat using traditional disinfectants, as spores are able to survive and breed even in harsh conditions. In order to ensure effective control of C. Difficile, a sporicidal disinfectant must therefore be used.
To ensure that a product is effective against Clostridium Difficile spores, check that it complies to BS EN 13704 (European standard for the sporicidal activity of chemical disinfectants).
